Energy startup solutions for 2050


SAFT challenges early stage startups to accelerate Switzerland's transition to a sustainable energy system by 2050. Five winning teams will take part in an intense startup boot camp, including an international market expedition to the San Francisco Bay Area. Entrepreneurs in the field of smart cities, energy efficiency, and distributed generation are invited to apply.

SAFT challenges early stage startups to accelerate Switzerland's transition to a sustainable energy system by 2050. The Program

SAFT is for Switzerland-based entrepreneurs who are Sustainably Advancing Future Technologies in the fields smart cities, energy efficiency and distributed generation. SAFT allows startups to take it to the next level by going abroad to Silicon Valley. The best 5 startups will win:

  • A one month boot camp to get the most out of your trip to the Valley
  • A one week market expedition to Silicon Valley: Meet potential partners, customers and investors
  • Three months incubation services at Impact Hub Zürich

The winners will be joined by a startup team nominated by SAFT program partner Climate-KIC Switzerland.

What's in it for your Startup?

Bootcamp (1 month)

Together with the other teams you will participate in a month long boot camp in Zurich, receiving training, mentoring and coaching to strengthen your business models and prepare yourself for an international market expedition to Silicon Valley.

 

International market expedition (1 week)

Together with a representative from the other winning teams, you will spend one week in the San Francisco Bay Area. The customized trip offers you an opportunity to evaluate the potential of your business idea in a foreign market, meet potential customers and investors, and experience the local innovation ecosystem. You will be accompanied by representatives of Swisscom, Climate-KIC and Gebert Rüf Foundation.

 

Incubation support (3 months)

After the trip, your team receives three months of incubation support at Impact Hub Zürich, including access to a stimulating co-working space, coaching services, events and workshops and connections to peer entrepreneurs and other valuable contacts.

Selection Process

Timeline

application Requirements

  1. Your startup must be based in Switzerland
  2. Startup team of 1-3 people
  3. Concepts/prototypes with demonstrated customer interest and international orientation
  4. Thematic focus related to smart cities, energy efficiency or distributed generation
  5. Be physically present for the final pitch event at Impact Hub Zürich
  6. Participate with at least one person in the boot camp in Zurich and the market expedition trip to the San Francisco Bay Area
